Getting Ready for Spring

Here’s a fun way to be reminded that spring is coming: join the City in a Garden program in the Nature Center at Indian Boundary Park.
Led by IBP’s Sarah Jacobson, who earned a BA degree in environmental studies from Bates College in Maine, the multifaceted program explores the breadth of the meaning behind Chicago’s motto, Urbs in Horto.
Among the activities for adults include foraging for organic materials to create artful home decor, testing ecologically friendly garden techniques, applications and city resources. Field trips to explore and learn about Chicago’s natural and environmentally friendly spaces also will be on the agenda.
The program meets twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday, 1:30 to 3 p.m. and ends March 9. The fee is $25. Enrollment is co-ed and limited to those 18 years old and up.
